I got my first taste of missions and evangelism during high school mission trips. As is the case with many short-term missions, I found myself being ministered to probably more than even those people for which we had traveled to help.

I knew then that God had given me a heart of compassion for the lost and the unchurched. It's much easier not to share the Gospel with those we come into contact with, but I believe God has called us to live our faith in a way that others can see.

The Great Commission

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." ~ Matthew 28:16-20

As a father, I now realize that a parent's most important mission field is his or her own children. We have been given a responsibility to raise our children in such a way that they will decide to follow Christ for themselves. Essentially, we are called to evangelize our own children.

Since I work on the world wide web, I try to be a light to my "workplace" by promoting evangelistic websites and running an online prayer ministry. I believe the internet is an important mission field because there are thousands of people who come to the web each day searching for answers about life and faith. Who will answer them? There are plenty of Non-Christian organizations and religions who are "competing" for these souls. As Christian web developers and marketers we must do our part to promote Christ to the online world.
